Happy 2022! And A Fun Lesson Adventure

Dear friends and family,

Happy 2022! I'm happy and amazed that it is already 2022! Time really flies in the world. Also Happy Birthday to my amazing sister, Emily!

Anyways, This week was great, we celebrated new years and I got to call my awesome family! We had to be in early because there's people that tend to be crazy on new years eve..... It's alright though, Elder Patterson and I got to play some card games and talk with the other missionaries.

Sunday came around and none of our friends came to church. But we were able to have a high turn out nevertheless. We taught some cool lessons.

Story Time!

One being the absolute highlight. We were finally able to get in contact with a woman named Crystal. She is related to a member so we have been trying to get in contact with for a long time. The holiday season rolls around and she's home! We created a game plan, we teach a powerful Restoration with our great friend, Kiefah. We come and see that she has some friends and family over. Okay no worries, I recognize one of them so it's all good.

Then the Storm came in. We sat down and started to get to know Crystal and out of nowhere one of her friends, who was drunk, interrupted, asking where I'm from? I answer that "I'm from the U.S." He stared at me for a minute. Then looked at my companion for a minute. Then back to me. Then he asked, "Are you Adopted?". I used all my willpower to stop myself from bursting into laughter!

I said "No, I was born in raised in the states." He looked at me again. "Then why don't  you look like him?" He pointed at Elder Patterson. I explained to him that the United States is a very diverse place with many different people. He stares at me for two minutes. His eyes wide, his mind absorbing knowledge. Then he gave me a high five and sat down. All Three of us were trying to hold in our laughter. When we left, we were laughing all the way home. Honestly one of the most fun lessons I had out here in Guyana.

Quick Spiritual thought: I was listening to a talk by Hyrum Smith. He was talking about why he believes the church was restored in 1820. It's an amazing talk, highly recommend it and one of my favorite things he says in it is that one of the big reasons it was the right time to restore the church in 1820 is because "it's the only time in the history of mankind it could have SURVIVED." America was the leader to adopt freedom of religion and I'm grateful that the restored church of Jesus Christ is still on the earth today, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Sincerely,
Elder Franco
