First P Day In Guyana! Fun Facts!

Dear friends and Family,

It's been a wonderful weekend here in Guyana and I never could be more excited to work in the vineyard. a lot of changes from my previous mission in colorado springs so I will give some interesting facts about Guyana today!

facts-

1.) there is a lot of mosquitos here.- lots and lots of mosquitos. Combine that with a lot of lizards and spiders! Thankfully I have bug spray and the Lizards are pretty harmless. don't know about the spiders though.

2.) We only use one Phone for now.- So some of you know that they recently allowed missionaries to bring a personal phone. your personal phone is used only for studying and listening to music. we use a phone that the mission gives us to do all of our work on! the new mission president said that could change in the future but we will wait and see. so when my personal phone connects to a wifi source, it automatically blows up with a tone of messages and notifications LOL!

3.) the mission covers multiple countries! -  so your probably wondering why I'm in Guyana and not in Trinidad or Tobago. well, my answer is that the name of the mission can be a little misleading and should be called the Caribbean Indies Mission. Not only do we cover Trinidad, Tobago, and Guyana; but we cover the ABC islands, Curacao, Suriname! The mission is small but big. We  only have two zones in Guyana itself.

4.) I might learn creole? - The people speak a really unique form of English. since they weren't taught English and some can't read or write, they use a little bit of creole in there. not gonna lie, its been kind of hard to figure out what they are saying sometimes, but I'm deeply praying for the gift of tongues so I can understand and teach with the spirit. I was told you get use to it in 2 to 3 weeks, so I'm not extremely worried.

And my final fact is that the Lord works miracles among us. if we turn our day to him, he will provide a way for us to succeed! I know that my testimony is true and that the restoration happened with Joseph Smith, the prophet of that same restoration. Me and My new Companion Elder Jenson are ready to work our butts off to give Guyana its first ward. I'm excited to share it with all of you!

sincerely,
Elder Franco

P.S.
